Questions
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about how the help desk, the free external scan, and cyber insurance readiness work. Anything missing? Ask on the contact page.
- Is the free scan intrusive?
- No. It only reads information your domain already publishes to the public internet: DNS records, TLS response headers, and whether well-known configuration files are being served openly. Nothing is exploited, no credentials are used, and no traffic is generated beyond a handful of ordinary web requests.
- What kind of IT problems can my staff ask about?
- Anything that keeps them from working: password resets, printer issues, Wi-Fi, email setup, software installation, slow computers, file access, and basic troubleshooting. If it is outside the scope of the monthly plan, we will tell you before any extra work is done.
- Is there a minimum contract or commitment?
- Plans are month-to-month after a short written service agreement. Cancel anytime with 30 days' notice after the initial term, and you keep everything already delivered. We earn the renewal by actually handling the tickets and keeping your insurance controls true.
- How does the extra $50 cyber insurance readiness add-on work?
- The $250 plan includes everything in the $200 help desk plan, plus we track and evidence the specific controls your cyber insurance carrier scores: MFA coverage, backup verification, EDR status, security awareness training, email authentication, and incident response readiness. At renewal you get a written answer sheet with proof attached.
- Do you work with businesses outside Gilbert?
- Yes. Valley CISO is based in Gilbert, Arizona and works face to face in Gilbert at a flat $175 per on-site visit. In Santa Ynez, Solvang, and Buellton, California: on-site available through our local technician, at the same flat $175 per visit. Book the California on-site visit option. Everywhere else is served remotely over video and email.
- What happens after we sign up?
- You get a short onboarding questionnaire about your IT stack, endpoints, MFA, backups, and current insurance requirements. Then your staff start opening tickets in the client portal and we begin the monthly cadence: patch work, ticket resolution, and evidence collection for the insurance controls.
- Will you fix the problems you find, or just report them?
- Both are available. Every finding gets a plain-English fix list. On a retainer we handle the day-to-day work and verify it ourselves; if you have an existing IT provider, we can hand them the same prioritized list to execute.
- Do you work on-site or only remotely?
- Both. Day-to-day support is fair-use remote help during Arizona business hours, which keeps the monthly price flat. On-site visits are a separate flat $175 per visit in Gilbert, Arizona. In Santa Ynez, Solvang, and Buellton, California: on-site available through our local technician, at the same flat $175 per visit. Book the California on-site visit option.
